allosteric inhibitions

I’ll never achieve [insert your goal] because I’m just too [insert your self-limiting belief].
No.
Just no.
Let’s read between the LIEnes: we’re stuck in the self-fulfilling prophecies we made when we attached self-limiting beliefs to our identities.
Our identity drives our actions (or lack thereof).
Our actions drive our results (or lack thereof).
Our results (or lack thereof) then fulfil our self-limiting beliefs, and the cycle begins anew.
For example, if we self-identify as lazy, we won’t work out like we said we would. And if we don’t work out, we won’t achieve the fitness results we want. Which will solidify the ‘lazy’ identity we’ve given ourselves and deprive us of opportunities to enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Self-limiting beliefs bend us out of shape in ways that close us off to the opportunities meant for us.
When you think about it, self-limiting beliefs are to our goals what inhibitors are to protein-substrate interactions.
Proteins in our body are unique:
A specific sequence of DNA encodes a specific sequence of amino acids
which interact and fold in a very specific way
to yield a protein with a very specific 3D shape
which enables it to bind to its specific substrate
and execute a specific function in the body.
(For a more detailed but not textbook-dense explanation, you can read Caleb’s prologue in my book. And while you’re at it, feel free to read the whole book.)
Allosteric inhibitors are molecules that bind to a protein and spark changes to the protein’s specific 3D shape.
And what happens when you disrupt a protein’s very specific 3D shape?
You disrupt it from being able to bind to its substrate
which disrupts the protein’s specific function in the body.
And in some cases, such disruptions can be disastrous.
Each of us humans are living a unique life
which is the product of the unique set of experiences we’ve had since birth
which (subconsciously) shapes our unique perceptions and beliefs about ourselves
and determines whether or not we fulfil our unique purposes in life.
Self-limiting beliefs are like allosteric inhibitors – they cause our self-perceptions to change shape in ways that disrupt us from achieving our goals and hence, fulfilling our life’s purpose.
But, luckily for us, self-limiting beliefs are reversible – just like allosteric inhibitors.
With enough of the protein’s specific substrate, pesky allosteric inhibitors are banished, freeing the protein to return to executing its specific function in the body: the one it’s meant for.
And similarly, with enough of the specific (and oftentimes challenging) actions required to achieve our goals, our self-limiting beliefs will be banished, freeing us to fulfil our unique purpose: the one we’re meant for.
So, it’s time to start replacing all our lies about ourselves (AKA self-limiting beliefs/allosteric inhibitors) with truths (AKA correct actions/substrates).
Eventually, the truth will win out and there’ll be no space for lies
and we’ll each achieve our goals
and fulfil our unique purposes in life.
